President-elect John Dramani Mahama has rejected claims that his administration left behind a broken economy when it exited office in 2016.

Mahama, who led the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government from 2012 to January 6, 2017, described the accusations as false and a deliberate attempt by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to distort facts for political gain.

Speaking during an interview with Germany-based DW TV, Mahama sought to set the record straight by highlighting the positive economic indicators his administration achieved at the time of handing over power.

According to Mahama, contrary to the NPP's persistent narrative of inheriting a struggling economy, the NDC's stewardship ensured stability and growth, leaving the economy in robust shape for the incoming government.
