As the final days of the current Parliament wind down and new and returning lawmakers prepare to take their seats after the December elections, Afenyo-Markin seized the moment to deliver a sharp and thought-provoking speech.
Afenyo-Markin didn't hold back as he aimed at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its plans for the country's economy, which they have repeatedly claimed is in disarray. "The NDC has been vocal about the state of the economy, but they've yet to answer a fundamental question: how do they intend to finance the economy?" he asked, his voice laced with both seriousness and a hint of humour.
He quickly turned the spotlight to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), where he emphasized their campaign promises, including the repeal of certain taxes, such as those on betting, the controversial E-levy, and emissions. "Let me remind you," Afenyo-Markin continued, "we're aware of our commitments-promises we made to the people, like repealing the E-levy and reducing taxes on betting and emissions.
