President-elect John Dramani Mahama has raised serious concerns about governance issues at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), highlighting the urgent need to address the company's inefficiencies.

Mahama noted that ECG's commercial and technical losses, which exceed 32%, are unsustainable and detrimental to the energy sector.

He stressed that these challenges must be resolved promptly to secure the country's energy future and ensure stability in the power supply.

The President-elect also cautioned that the continued mismanagement of ECG could undermine the progress achieved through Ghana's debt exchange programme and its agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
