The Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has reaffirmed his commitment to serving his constituents despite losing his re-election bid in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking to Channel One News as Parliament reconvened on Monday, December 16, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, the MP expressed his determination to fulfil his duties until the expiration of his term. "My presence here certainly throws those arguments into the gutter of those assertions.
I lost the election for the 9th Parliament, but I am still a member of the 8th Parliament representing the good people of Sekondi, and I am here to do my job," Egyapa Mercer stated.
When asked about attendance from the majority side of the house, he responded, "I don't know who is coming or not coming, but Parliament is resuming today, and I have come.
