The National Peace Council (NPC) has urged all contestants in the December 7 parliamentary election who have challenges with the outcome to seek redress in court.

The NPC said this will ensure amicable settlement of any dispute. "The NPC calls on all political party representatives to avail themselves of every legal avenue available to redress their concerns to ensure the safety of all participants at this stage of the electoral process," a press release dated December 13 stated.

The Council also called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to "convene an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting with all political party representatives and other important stakeholders to discuss and agree an amicable resolution to the impasse.

It encouraged the media to continue its diligent efforts to report and broadcast election-related activities to the Ghanaian public to ensure transparency of the electoral process.
