President-elect has expressed concerns to the UK High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, regarding some actions of the incumbent government as they prepare to hand over power.

According to him, the (NDC) transition team, during their engagement with the President Akufo-Addo-led government, noticed that last-minute contracts had been awarded as well as mass recruitment into state agencies.

Mahama noted that he is concerned about the situation because his government, which will take over on January 7, 2024, cannot revoke these actions, which will put more strain on the economic fortunes of the country.

In a meeting with the UK High Commissioner on December 13, 2024, Mahama called on Harriet Thompson to ensure that the government does the right thing as they leave office to aid the next administration. "There are a few signals that have been raised in respect of some contracts that some para-state agencies are trying to sign off at the last minute that will commit the new government even before it comes into office.
