Ghana's Black Maidens were classes above Benin in the opening game of the WAFU B U17 tournament on Thursday as they eased their way to a 4-1 win at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, Prampram.
The Black Maidens were high on confidence after picking up two wins and a draw in the lead-up to the tournament, with the last of the two victories coming in a 3-0 demolishing of Sissamba Ladies.
Ghana started the game on the front foot with Priscilla Mensah shooting the hosts ahead after six minutes before Christiana Ashiaku decided to run the show.
Ashiaku bagged a first half hattrick, scoring her first goal after 17 minutes and adding a second on the stroke of half time before the third came a minute later.
