The transition from the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government to that of President-Elect started on Wednesday, December 12, 2024, with the inauguration of a joint transition team.

The president's appointees to the team are expected to provide a comprehensive report of the state of the country to the incoming president to ensure a smooth transfer of political power.

The incoming president, , is also expected to receive daily national security briefings from the day of the inauguration of the Transition team till January 7 when he will be inaugurated and his team will officially take over the administration of the country.

To ensure that this task is performed well, the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), specifies the people who must be appointed by the incumbent president, which is now Akufo-Addo, to ensure a smooth transition.
