President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has celebrated Ghana's achievement as a functioning, effective democratic state which respects the will of the people.

He also said Ghana is a country that respects human rights and the rule of law and where we are all secure in our daily lives.

Mr Akufo-Addo said these when he inaugurated the presidential transition team on Wednesday, December  11.

President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring that the incoming administration has all the necessary resources and support to hit the ground running. "All of it is in order to make sure that our nation Ghana continues to march forward as a functioning, effective democratic state which respects the will of the people, which respects human rights and the rule of law and where we are all secure in our daily lives. "We have spoken a little bit about the  issues that have occurred, and the seeming lawlessness that has taken place, I expressed my  happiness with his intervention  yesterday  he spoke to the country about what is going on, reinforcing the authority of the state  that these matters are dealt with, "It has been a warm and constructive engagement, the president and I have known each other for nearly 20 years, we met in parliament in 1997  and have remained good friends.
