President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of a seamless handover.

He gave the assurance when he met with Mahama to begin the transition process at the Jubilee House in Accra on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

The meeting, a critical milestone in Ghana's democratic process, brought together members of both the outgoing and incoming administrations to officially commence the transition of power.

President Akufo-Addo also pledged his support and that of the government in ensuring that power was handed over to the new administration in the best of conditions, as was in the interest of Ghanaians. "The presidential transition act requires that within 24 hours, a joint transition team should be established to begin the process of a smooth and seamless transfer of authority, and so it was on that basis that I invited His Excellency to come here for us to meet and kick-start the whole process.
