The President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC), Samson Deen, has sent a congratulatory message to Ghana's president-elect, John Dramani Mahama, after his triumph in the country's recent presidential elections.
The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, was re-elected as head of state after winning the 2024 general elections with a staggering 6,328,397 votes which represents 56.55% as compared to his closest rival, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) 4,657,304 votes which represents 41.61%.
In an official letter, Samson Deen formally conveyed his congratulations on behalf of the AfPC and the wider Paralympic family, while also expressing his best wishes for Mahama's success as he prepares to commence his tenure on January 7, 2025. "The African Paralympic Committee (APC), the Paralympic Movement, and the entire sports fraternity across Africa warmly congratulate you on your resounding victory in Ghana's presidential election.
We pray for divine guidance as you prepare to take on the responsibilities and challenges of leading Ghana," the message stated.
