The Savannah Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Salusi Be-Awurbi, has refuted claims that the Damongo constituency election was collated and declared following an agreement between the NPP and NDC.
He emphasized that though a Memorandum was reached with the Electoral Commission in the presence of the Regional Party leaders and all security commanders in the region for the parties to assemble and collate the statement of polls together for both Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, the NDC did not submit any pink sheet for collation. "To the best of our knowledge, there was no collation, no counting of some polling stations and no declaration could be made of same without such a process and any such action of declaration if true, is an unlawful act by agents of the Commission. "No NDC person participated in any collation of Presidential and Parliamentary results of the Damongo Constituency subsequent to the memorandum of understanding reached and signed between the Commission and Political parties,"Mr Be-Awurbi said.
The Damongo Constituency EC office was set ablaze by angry youth who were on rampage at the office following delays by the Commission in announcing the parliamentary results.
Some of the protesters were arrested by police.
