President-elect John Dramani Mahama has expressed surprise at the magnitude of his victory in the 2024 presidential election, attributing his success to the divine intervention of God.

Mahama secured 56% of the total valid votes, surpassing his main opponent, Dr.

Mahamudu Bawumia, in the final stage of the highly contested race.

During a courtesy visit from the leadership of the Assemblies of God Church, led by Reverend Stephen Wengam, Mahama thanked the church for its continued support and called on them to stand by him in his efforts to address the country's pressing economic challenges as he prepares to take office as president. "In every step that I have taken, I know that the church has followed me with prayer, and especially in the run-up to this election, I know all the prayer networks and chains that were actively praying for our success.
