The (NDC) candidate in Amenfi Central constituency, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has become the first female candidate to represent the NDC in the constituency.
She achieved this feat by winning with 26,345 votes, representing 68.53%, and this includes sweeping all the New Patriotic Party (NPP) strongholds in the constituency.
Her NPP contender, Dr Albert Wiredu Arkoh, gained 12,096 votes, representing 31.47%.
Joana Gyan Cudjoe's victory was not without its challenges.
