The of Ghana (EC) on Monday, December 9, 2024, declared as the winner of the 2024 presidential election, which was held on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Although Mahama will be sworn in as the President of Ghana on January 7, 2025, there are a number of things he is expected to do as President-Elect.
The things he is expected to do before his swearing-in, some within 24 hours of the EC's declaration, are stipulated in The Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).
According to Section 1 of Act 845, Mahama, within 24 hours, is supposed to make some appointments to his government, including the appointment of his Chief of Staff and some key ministry positions.
