Ghanaian rapper Medikal has accused the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) of orchestrating his arrest during their tenure in power.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the rapper revealed he was detained at Ankaful Maximum Security Prison under what he described as baseless charges.
He claimed attempts by his lawyers to seek clarity were dismissed, with authorities citing "orders from above." "NPP arrested me for no tangible reason, NPP put me in cells, locked me up in jail… all in the name of power," Medikal wrote.
Reflecting on the recent electoral loss of the NPP to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), he expressed cautious support for incoming President John Dramani Mahama.
