The largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that it has won a total of 185 parliamentary seats across the country.
This marks the first time since the inception of the Fourth Republic that the 'Umbrella Party' has secured such a large number of parliamentary seats in competitive elections.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Sunday, December 8, 2024, the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, expressed optimism about winning additional seats in constituencies where results are yet to be declared by the Electoral Commission. "We still have a few that are not completely confirmed, but our count shows that, as of now, we are talking about at least 185 parliamentary seats for the NDC.
We will see what happens with the remaining ones that are still in the toss-up category," he stated.
