Unidentified individuals have destroyed some ballot boxes and papers from the recent general elections at the Ayawaso Central collation centre in Accra, sparking chaos in the area.   The incident occurred at the ATTC School, where the collation of results was underway.

TV3 Correspondent present at the venue reports that the attackers clashed with police officers, and Electoral Commission (EC) officials in a bid to secure the ballots, fleeing with the boxes to protect the materials.   The situation quickly spiralled out of control, with police forces calling for reinforcements to restore order.

Additional officers have been deployed to safeguard the integrity of the ongoing collation process.

Earlier, confusion arose as security personnel struggled to differentiate between accredited individuals and unaccredited residents, many of whom claimed they were there to assist with protecting the ballots.
