The Western Region Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association, Desmond Cudjoe, is urging journalists who will be reporting on Saturday's General Elections to adhere strictly to the ethical standards of the profession.

He said that is their first responsibility. "Your foremost duty is to report what is happening, not what you think is happening," Mr Cudjoe stated.

He added that, "Of course, you may support a political party.

However, ensure that your support does not cloud your professional judgment." He also encouraged his colleagues to cross-check their information with other sources before making it public. "By all means, file your reports, but don't rush to be the first to publish any information," he advised. "One critical piece of advice is this: if you are in doubt about anything, don't proceed.
