President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo commissioned three new 40-bed district hospitals on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Having already commissioned four such hospitals in the Ashanti Region late last month, these three latest additions, located in the Okere District, Jumapo in the New Juaben North Municipality, and Kwabeng in the Atiwa West District, are part of a total of twelve 40-bed hospitals in the Ashanti, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions, along with one polyclinic in Mim, Brong Ahafo Region.

Former Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu broke ground for these hospital projects in 2020, which were undertaken by VAMED Engineering GmbH of Austria.

Other areas where these hospitals have been built across the country include Drobonso, Twedie, Sabronum, Suame, Manso Nkwanta, Nkwatia, Achiase, Mim, and Kpone Katamanso.
