The has urged political parties and the general public to maintain the same level of discipline demonstrated at the final rallies of the two dominant parties, NPP and NDC, during the December 7 elections.
According to the police service, it observed that political parties, supporters, and the general public organised successful rallies without any violent incidents.
In a statement released on Friday, December 6, 2024, it urged that maintaining discipline will ensure peaceful elections, free from violence, and help safeguard the country's democracy. "As the nation approaches the elections, tomorrow, 7th December 2024, we urge the political parties, their supporters and all stakeholders to maintain the same level of discipline, unity, and patriotism for our beloved Country Ghana for a peaceful election," parts of the statement read.
The police also commended the (NPP), the (NDC), and their supporters for cooperating with the security agency and for conducting themselves appropriately during the rallies. "The wishes to commend the (NPP), the (NDC), and their supporters for their cooperation before and during the event which led to the peaceful and successful conclusion of their final rallies in Accra, yesterday, 5th December 2024," it said.
