The Ghana Coalition Against Galamsey (GCAG) is urging the Presidential Candidates contesting in the 2024 elections to endorse a national pledge focused on addressing illegal and irresponsible mining prior to the December elections.

This request follows the recent signing of the 4th presidential peace pact by various political parties and their candidates.

GCAG is a national coalition that includes representatives from the media, organised labour, religious groups, youth organisations, academia, civil society, traditional leaders, and business entities.

The coalition has dispatched letters to the various presidential candidates, seeking their commitments and signatures on the pledge.
