Eleven women will be contesting in this year's election as members of parliament in the Western region.

Out of the figures, five are contesting the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), three are for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), two are independent candidates, and one is for the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).

Dorcas Affo-Toffey, who is the incumbent Member of Parliament of Jomoro, would be contesting three other candidates: Paul Essien of the NPP, Madam Samia Nkrumah, an independent candidate and Nana Blay Miezah of the Convention People's Party (CPP).

Meanwhile, Mavis Kuuku Bissue, a first-timer, is contesting the Ahanta West seat with Francis Eric Pobee of the NPP.
