Initial ballot papers distributed for the Eastern Region were burned on December 2 following the Electoral Commission's announcement of defaced ballot papers found in the wrong hands.

All ballots from the 33 constituencies in the region were recalled for the burning, while the special voting in the region was rescheduled from December 2 to 5.

The Electoral Commission's Eastern Regional Director, John Appiah Baffoe, led the stakeholders to oversee the exercise.

Earlier, Zoomlion was invited to use its truck to collect the ballot papers from the Eastern Regional Police Quarters in Galloway.
