Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to establish an Islamic Bank if elected in the upcoming December general elections.

During an engagement with district and municipal Imams in the Ashanti Region on Monday, December 2, Mahama stated that his administration would revise banking regulations to accommodate the establishment of an Islamic Bank.

He highlighted the bank's potential to offer interest-free financial services tailored to the needs of Muslim communities and others who prefer alternative banking systems.

This initiative, he said, aligns with his vision to create a more inclusive financial sector that caters to the diverse needs of Ghanaians. "In some arab countries, they have Islamic Banks with laws governing those banks.
