The University of Ghana lecturers who have declared their support for NDC's flagbearer John Mahama has urged Ghanaians to consider the economic difficulties experienced in the country in casting their ballots.
The lecturers in a statement on December 2, 2024 said Ghana is at a crossroad and a change is needed. "As we approach the pivotal December 7 2024 elections, we feel compelled to raise our voices and urge you, the people, to respond to the clarion call for change," the statement noted.
According to the lecturers, the country has been plunged into "economic mismanagement, systematic corruption, and the deliberate dismantling of the very foundations upon which dreams were built for far too long." Citing the devastating galamsey menace, the Domestic Debt Exchange (DDE) programme by government and the financial sector clean-up, the group believes Ghanaians now have the chance to reset the country. "This is not the Ghana we dreamed of, the Ghana we fought for, the Ghana we vowed to build for generations to come.
This is a Ghana that has been betrayed, a Ghana that has been robbed off its dignity and its promise," the statement added.
