The Bole District Director of Health, Ndapewurche Hajia Fuseina Sulemana, has urgently called on residents to step forward for blood donations, as the district's blood bank faces a critical shortage. Her appeal came during the mid-term review meeting held at the Bole District Hospital on Monday. Hajia Fuseina highlighted the dire situation, explaining that the hospital's blood reserves are nearing depletion, which significantly hampers the ability to provide essential healthcare services.
"We sometimes lack the necessary blood supplies for our patients, which makes delivering adequate healthcare challenging," she stated. The meeting, attended by health practitioners, representatives from the Bole District Assembly, security services, and other stakeholders, focused on improving healthcare delivery in the district. The Bole District Director of Health reported successes in various health programmes, including the mass distribution of mosquito nets, seasonal malaria chemoprevention, and school deworming initiatives.
