Nana Danso Agyei Ababio, the Chief of Nkaseim, in the Asutifi South District of the Ahafo Region, has called on mining companies in the country to ensure strict compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
This, according to him, would enhance efforts at protecting and restoring the environment, water bodies, forest reserves, and animals and human life against pollution, poisoning and preventable death.
Nana Danso Agyei, who is President of Ahafo South Divisional Council, made the call at his palace at Nkaseim, on Friday when the management of NADAMUMSA Mining Company Limited paid a courtesy call on him.
The NADAMUMSA is currently conducting prospecting for minerals to begin large - scale underground extraction of gold at Nkaseim, after the acquisition of mining lease and certification from stakeholder institutions.
