The National Media Commission (NMC) has inaugurated a sev­en-member Volta Region Media Advisory Committee (MAC) with the objective to ensure that journalists and other media practitioners carried out their duties responsibility and uphold professional standards. Chaired by the Bishop of Ho Catholic Dioceses, Most Revered Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, the MAC is to also ensure pub­lic trust among media practi­tioners in the region. The members include the former Rector of Ho Technical University, Dr George Mawusi Afeti, a Registrar of the Univer­sity of Health and Allied Sci­ences, Ms Yaa Opuni Amankwa, and Mr Bruce Senam Mac Brinn, an educationist. The rest are Mr N.K.K Gidi­glo, Mr Anthony Kafui Kanyi Bells, a journalist and former Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association and Mr Andrews Dodzi Adugu, a High Court Judge. The Chairman of the NMC, Mr Yaw Boadu Ayeboafoh, who inaugurated the committee, said the new committee would play vital roles in ensuring that journalists and other media practitioners carried out their duties responsibility by adhering to professional code of ethics in the discharge of their duties.
