The Electoral Commission (EC) has said that 4,500 media accreditations have been granted to cover the results collation at the constituency and regional collation centers.

The EC initially recommended that there be at least 3,308 accreditations.

The Chairman of the EC, Jean Mensa, stated at a press conference on Friday, November 29, 2024, that the Commission will provide the 4,500 accreditation cards to the Ghana Independent Broadcaster Association (GIBA) and Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) leadership by Sunday night.

According to the EC, the GJA and GIBA would be responsible for allocating and distributing the 4,500 accreditation cards. "The EC will not play any role in the allocation and distribution of the cards." The Chairperson reaffirmed the Commission's commitment to collaborating with the media prior to, during, and following the December General Election, emphasizing that the Commission actually needs the media the most at this pivotal point in the election process.
