Five persons, including three immigration officers, have sustained varying degrees of injuries following an attack on them by an angry mob in an attempt to set them and their properties ablaze at Ayigya within the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened on the evening of Tuesday, 26th November, when the angry mob, allegedly led by an angry neighbour of the officers, attacked a two-storey property of the Ghana Immigration Service and its occupants with armed men wielding machetes and other offensive weapons.
After burning parts of the building, the mob also made away with some properties of the officers, including phones and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The eyewitnesses added that the neighbor who allegedly orchestrated the attack has been terrorizing the officers in an attempt to evict them from the building after claiming ownership of the property.
