Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Jean Mensa has said 210,000 temporary officials have been recruited for the 2024 elections.

These officials include; returning officers, to deputy returning officers, presiding officers and polling assistants in all the over 40,900 polling stations across the country.

Jean Mensa in a meeting with security officials ahead of the December 7 elections, noted that these officials are currently undergoing training as aide memories have been introduced to support the officials in their work. "They are undergoing extensive training for all the categories of staff.  This year, we have developed what we call the aide memoires and based on feedback from our officers on the ground and officers from the various election observation missions which are basic instructions on the key aspects of our work," Jean Mensa said on November 26, 2024.

The Commission added that all-Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) to be sued for the 2024 elections will be put under safe police protection by the end of the weekend.
