The Ghana AIDS Commission has raised alarm over the lack of resources in the National AIDS Fund, leaving the country dependent on the Global Fund to sustain treatment and care for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

Speaking during an awareness campaign in Accra on November 23, 2024, on the theme "Take the Right Path #EndAIDSNow," Dr.

Ernest Amoabeng Okyere, President of Ghana HIV/AIDS and Acting Chairman of the Country Coordinating Mechanism of the Global Fund, stressed the urgent need for government intervention. "As we speak, the National AIDS Fund is empty, and all our efforts are currently supported by the Global Fund.

Without additional funding, the fight against HIV/AIDS could face a critical setback," he said.
