The Asante Kingdom is marking the 100th anniversary of the return of King Prempeh I from exile in Seychelles.

King Prempeh I, also known as Nana Agyeman Prempeh I, was exiled to the Seychelles by the British colonial government in 1896.

His return in 1924 marked a fundamental moment in the history of the Ashanti Kingdom, symbolising resilience and the enduring spirit of the Asante people.

The event has been graced by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the President of Seychelles, the Prime Minister of Eswatini, as well as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
