Youth Alliance and Action for Change (YAAC), a youth-centred organization, has called for the digital empowerment of young people and the maintenance of global peace as the world marks International Youth Day (IYD). YAAC underscored the critical role of young people in leveraging digital technology to forge a sustainable and inclusive future achievable in a peaceful atmosphere of global coexistence. In a press statement released on August 12, 2024, to mark the day, under the theme "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development," YAAC urged global leaders and communities to recognize and harness the transformative power of youth-driven digital innovation. The press statement, signed by the YAAC Convener, Dr. Eunice Yorgri, acknowledged the pivotal role of young people in the ongoing digital and industrial revolution, stating that "the youth stands at the forefront of this digital revolution, using technology to drive progress, create opportunities, and build a more inclusive and sustainable world." It further emphasized the importance of empowering the youth with the necessary tools, resources, and support to translate their digital skills into concrete actions that contribute to a better tomorrow. "We believe in the potential of the youth to lead a future that is not only technologically advanced but also socially and environmentally responsible. "On this day of commemoration, we salute the youth who are striving to have a better future," the statement added.
