Residents and commuters in the Builsa South District of the Upper East Region have raised concerns over the abandoned Uwasi-Fumbisi Road, which they claim was left in a state of disrepair following what they describe as "substandard" construction by a politically connected contractor. The 33.5-kilometre road, awarded on April 5, 2018, to Samba Co. Ltd., owned by the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Samba, has become a significant source of frustration for the local community. The road, initially constructed in 2019 just before the 2020 elections, was plagued by poor workmanship, leaving it in a hazardous condition. Residents reported that the culverts installed on the road were washed away by heavy rains shortly after being covered with gravel, exacerbating the already dire state of the road.
