The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Dr.
Mahamudu Bawumia, has indicated that his priority will be to boost the agriculture sector when elected as the president of Ghana come December 7. " If I'm elected as president , my first priority will be agriculture because agriculture plays an important role in our economy and about 50% are farmers and so for Ghana to prosper we need to strengthen our agriculture sector." He assured.
He made this known at the Kumbungu Chief palace during his tour of the Northern region.
According to him, District Agric Mechanization centers will be established at the district level to enhance agriculture across the country. " we will provide tractors and other equipments to help farmers to boost their productivity because farmers do not have the capital to embark on massive farming activities and so this initiative will help them to expand their production just like the DRIP machines we brought for the various assemblies to use to enhance our road sector." He assured the Kumbungu Chief that his government will create an irrigation facility from the Dalun dam to boost agriculture in the Kumbungu area and its surroundings.
