The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has announced that more than six private investors have shown interest in partnering with the government to construct and operationalize the Keta Port in the Volta Region. Michael Luguje, the Director-General of GPHA, stated that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will soon issue an environmental and social impact assessment report. This report will be presented to the investors as a critical part of the port's development process. In October 2018, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo signed an Executive Instrument (EI) officially designating Keta as the location for the Port of Keta, to be managed by the GPHA. However, residents of Keta have expressed frustrations over the government's delay in advancing the port's construction.
