The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has dismissed as baseless the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s allegations that Brigadier General Michael Opoku is involved in a plot to rig the 2024 general elections.
Nana Boakye's comments came after Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC's National Communications Officer, accused Brigadier General Opoku, the General Officer Commanding (CDC) of the Central Command of the Ghana Armed Forces, of orchestrating election rigging plans in the Ashanti Region.
The NDC claims that the alleged plan is being executed under government instructions, with Brigadier General Opoku reportedly training individuals in the region to manipulate the elections, starting with the special voting on December 2.
In a press conference held on Wednesday, November 20, Nana Boakye strongly rejected the allegations, stating that they are without merit and should be ignored. "The allegations made by the Communication and the NDC are baseless.
