The District Chief Executive (DCE) of North Tongu, Mr Divine Fenuku, has asserted that the government is fully committed to addressing the difficulties faced by the victims of the Akosombo and Kpong dams' spillage, ensuring that they can return to their normal lives. He denounced any attempts to politicise the disaster, emphasising that it transcends party politics. Mr Fenuku also said the government's housing initiative for the displaced flood victims was currently underway in Mepe-Degorme and Battor, forming part of a broader recovery strategy until normalcy was restored. He encouraged the community to have confidence in the government and to back its initiatives for development. The District Chief Executive made this statement when speaking at a gathering of chiefs and residents of the Mepe traditional area over the weekend, marking the conclusion of the 68th Apenorto Festival, themed: "Rebuilding and sustainability of Mepe, post Akosombo Dam flood disaster." Mr Fenuku noted that while the government was taking strategic measures to address the challenges faced by the community due to the flood, some individuals were regrettably politicising the situation.
