A lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, Dr Jonathan Asante Otchere has said that the implementation of the 'no academic fees for level 100 students' at the universities should be done in ways that will not cause the problems associated with the free senior high school programme to occur at the universities. He explained that oftentimes, governments delay releasing funds to state institutions for such initiatives. If the same approach is adopted for the implementation of the 'no academic fees' initiative, certainly there will be problems at the universities, he said. "If care is not taken the challenges with the free SHS will come up in the universities. More often than not government delays the release of money to institutions," he said on the Big Issue on TV3 on Tuesday, August 13. The Youth Manifesto launched by the National Democratic Congress has many promises.
