A Deputy Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Kofi Owusu-Bempah Bonsu, has told the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Forner President John Dramani Mahama to issue an official apology to former President John Agyekum Kufuor for the attacks on him by communicators of the NDC, especially Dela Edem.
Although the National Communications officer of the NDC Sammy Gyamfi has apologised to Mr Kufuor for Dela Edem's utterances, Owusu-Bempah believes that an apology from Mr Mahama himself will be ideal.
He said that the failure of Mr Mahama to apologise would be deemed as an endorsement of the insults hurled at Mr Kufuor. "Dela Edem speaks for the NDC and Mahama, Mr Mahama must come out officially to apologise to President Kufuor for this utterance," Owusu Bempah told journalists in Accra on Tuesday, November 19. "Ghanaians will vote against Mahama for this action," he said.
The controversy stemmed from a viral video in which Dela Edem, a member of the NDC's communications team, made offensive comments suggesting that the former President's use of a wheelchair was due to a curse.
