Security analyst Adam Bonaa warns that 's statements about the 's desire to retain power at all costs could potentially undermine the integrity, credibility, and security of the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections. He averred that although the Minister of Agriculture may not personally engage in violent means or attempt to rig the elections in favour of the NPP, party supporters might treat his comments as a call to use machinations to rig the elections. The Abetifi Member of Parliament and Minister of Food and Agriculture, , reiterated the governing 's (NPP) decision not to hand over power to the NDC. Addressing a crowd at a campaign rally of the NPP in Nsawam in the Eastern Region, Acheampong declared that the NDC should forget winning the elections because they will use all available means to retain power.
