The Teachers and Educational Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress (TEWU-TUC) is set to begin a nationwide strike today, Monday, November 18, in protest over the government's failure to address longstanding concerns regarding their conditions of service.
TEWU-TUC has expressed significant frustration with the government's delays in concluding, signing, and implementing revised conditions of service for workers under the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Ghana Library Authority, the Museums and Monuments Board, as well as Public Technical and Traditional Universities.
The union has highlighted that negotiations for these revisions have been ongoing for several years without resolution, leading to growing dissatisfaction among its members.
The union argues that the lack of progress on these matters is untenable and has reached a point where industrial action is seen as the only way to push for change.
