The Director of Legal Affairs for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gary Nimako, has thrown his support behind the ruling of the Supreme Court in favour of the NPP in relation to the vacant seat brouhaha.

Mr.

Nimako clarified on Saturday, November 16, on JoyNews' Newsfile that an MP is only considered to have resigned from office if they physically alter their political stance while they are in office. He argued that per the law, it has been made specific that a member of parliament can be an MP within 4 years after being voted into power. He also clarified that in order for Article 97(1)(g) and (h) of the Constitution to take effect, such a change must take place within Parliament.

According to Gary Nimako, the NPP member now an independent incumbent, Cynthia Morrison has not moved from the NPP to the NDC hence she has not crossed carpet. "The NDC man, as we speak, he is still with his side in Parliament.
