University of Ghana Prof Ransford Gyampo has questioned the empanelling of judges who sat on the vacant seats in Parliament.

To him, the idea of sidelining senior judges for virtually new judges whose rulings seem predictable was not the best.

Gyampo who was speaking on Accra-based TV3, indicated that the Supreme Court should have appointed senior judges whose judgement even if people do not agree would be very convincing and not one that would be predictable. "The Supreme Court doesn't seem to care about how they appear in public; if they did, they would have empanelled experienced hands in such an issue of national concern.

The idea that the Chief Justice is the one that has the power to empanel is something that we need to look at," he said.
