Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has acknowledged the challenges faced by the club's supporters last season, during which the team struggled to secure positive outcomes and narrowly avoided relegation. The Phobians finished the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season in 14th place with 45 points, salvaging their status in the top flight with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Bechem United on the final day.
"I'm proud because of the fans of this big family, who are the Hearts of Oak family. I'm proud because last season all these people suffered, and after, I think this trophy is just the beginning of the league," Ouattara said after their 2024 Gbese Mantse Homowo Cup victory over Heart of Lions on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium. Ouattara, whose team won the Homowo Cup, hinted at a promising future for Hearts of Oak, suggesting that the revamped squad could soon make a significant impact in the Ghana Premier League.
