The National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, George Opare-Addo has accused religious groups and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of being silent over the various alleged acts of corruption under President Akufo-Addo's government. Speaking at the launch of the party's youth manifesto on Monday, August 12, he accused the NPP of rallying clergymen prior to the 2016 and 2020 elections to discredit the NDC. According to him, these same people have since become mute over the "wanton acts of corruption, state capture and untold hardship" experienced under the current government. "Today, these men of God, religious groups and civil society organisations have suddenly disappeared and become deaf and dumb and blind to the wanton acts of corruption, state capture and untold hardship unleased on Ghanaians by Bawumia and Akufo-Addo administration," he said. Commenting on the recent exoneration of John Mahama by the Special Prosecutor in the Airbus SE scandal, the NDC youth organizer applauded John Mahama for being cleared of any misconduct or wrongdoing by the Special Prosecutor. "Mr. President, we know the many unsubstantiated allegations that were made against you and the NDC, we knew how it weighed on you but we are grateful to God that with time, you have been vindicated," he stated.
