The seven-member panel of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Her Ladyship Gertrude Sackey Torkonoo, ruled in a majority 5-2 decision on Tuesday that the Speaker's October 17th declaration was unconstitutional.
The ruling affirmed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the majority caucus in Parliament.

Hammond argued that Speaker Bagbin's actions over recent weeks, particularly his decision to declare four seats vacant, amounted to a flagrant disregard for the 1992 Constitution and the authority of the Supreme Court.
