Renal disease patients can seek dialysis services at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital from today following the hospitals assurance to fully resume dialysis treatment at the facility this week. Management of the facility is also expected to meet with leadership of the dialysis patients on how monies will be reimbursed to their members who are beneficiaries of the free dialysis programme, but have had to pay for dialysis elsewhere. The hospital in a statement said the resumption of the service follows the facility's ability to secure a significant quantity of essential consumables for dialysis, which is currently being processed for delivery to Korle Bu from the Tema Port. The Dialysis Centre was closed for days, without any notice to patients. Though elated about the decision, the patients want government to find a more sustainable way of getting the consumables for the unit.
